FCV Summercamp gave Isaac hope for the future

Isaac Karlsson has created the graphics for FCV’s new board game, Hot Skills. The game will be released during 2025, and he is currently making the final touches.

“At Summercamp a few years ago, I discovered that my passion could also become my career. Now, I have my sights set on a future as a game graphics designer.”

Isaac is 23 years old and lives in Luleå. He has been drawing and painting all his life. School was tough, and he often spent entire lessons sketching in his notebooks. At times, he didn’t attend school at all.

“I felt quite lonely and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Everything seemed pretty meaningless.”

A Life-Changing experience

When Isaac’s mother heard about FCV’s Summercamp in Boden in 2021, she suggested he apply. He signed up and secured a spot.

Over eight intensive camp weeks, Isaac got to explore programming, game design, pixel art, and much more. It didn’t take long for the camp leaders to recognize his talents.

“Isaac has played a key role in designing our game, Hot Skills,” says Lars Lundqvist, operations manager at FCV Sweden. “His dream of being part of a game launch is about to come true.”

Summercamp turned out to be a real eye-opener for Isaac.

“Before the camp, I thought only exclusive game studios could create game graphics. But I realized that technology has improved so much that anyone can do it. I understood that I can do it!”

Hope for the future

The weeks at camp also helped Isaac become more outgoing. But it wasn’t an overnight change.

“FCV Summercamp was where my journey began. After returning home, I slowly started coming out of my shell. I dared to talk to people, collaborate, and engage in a whole new way.”

Skills that matter

Now, Isaac is finalizing the last illustrations for FCV’s board game, Hot Skills. One of his favorite characters to design has been The Entertainer.

“The game’s different characters allow players to challenge their abilities and discover that they may have skills that employers are looking for.”
